Jigs & Reels

Joanne Harris, 2004
I read Joanne Harris’ Jigs & Reels for the first time a number of years back, and absolutely loved it. I was enthusiastic to read it again now, and enjoyed it even more the second time around.
Jigs & Reels is a collection of Harris’ short stories. All the stories have a slight twist to them, whether it is outright magic, subtle fantasy, or just an unusual or unexpected perspective on life. They are enchanting, both light and dark, and a delight to read. They are also short (of course), and thereby make for nice bite-size bits of reading for busy weeks when a full-on novel is a bit large a commitment.
