The Admirable Crichton

J.M. Barrie, 1902
The Admirable Crichton is a play by J.M. Barrie (of Peter Pan fame), and tells the story of a few Victorian nobles and their servants who are shipwrecked on a desert island. The text of the play is written with readers in mind, however, with many long descriptive passages between the dialogue.
On the whole this is a rather light, frivolous read, but enjoyable and presented with a very authentic Victorian voice concealing an intelligent critique of the foibles of that society.
